Month by Month:
The Ultimate Wedding Checklist

Ok so, you have said yes and the 12-month countdown is officially on. Eek, how exciting! Things all must seem super daunting right now, maybe you are nervous and don’t know where to start, there is a lot of pressure on this day to be perfect- I mean, you’ve only been dreaming about it…YOUR ENTIRE LIFE? Right?!

First things first do not panic, we are here to help and with this 12-month wedding checklist, you should be well on your way to stress-free hearts and flowers.

01.

12 Months Before…

  • Pick a date! This will likely be based on when your preferred locations are available so select your top 3-5 venues and see which one fits your schedule best at this point it is also important to think about your wedding theme and how your venue fits in with your selected theme
  • Figure out your budget- this is (super) important because you then need to figure out how you can combine your perfect wedding with your budget
  • Put together a team who can successfully take on the mission that is your perfect wedding. Hiring a wedding planner is a great start
  • Get a wedding insurance policy in place to protect your deposits should anything not go exactly to plan
  • Send save the date cards. Yes, right now you might be thinking a little premature, but you don’t want half your guests away on holiday on YOUR special day, do you?!

02.

10 months before…

  • Start writing your guest list, this is always going to be a tricky one, you’re always going to want to invite too many people! Decide on the number of people you are going to invite first, this will help you stick to budget
  • Have an engagement party
  • Book your photographers, videographers, DJ etc. There is nothing worse than leaving this too late and being stuck with Uncle Howard behind the deck
  • Start thinking about your Wedding Party, Bridesmaids, Pageboys, Best Man, Groomsmen, Flower Girl - The big question is who are you going to ask?!

03.

8 months before…

  • Bride: Ok girl now is your moment; it is officially time to start shopping for the perfect dress! But don’t forget the shoes and accessories too!
  • Start to discuss food options/ entertainment options/ decoration…what type of flowers do you want? Do you want a pianist or an acapella singer?
  • Shop for your wedding rings
  • Wedding Cake! Start thinking about who you want to make your Wedding cake, go to tastings and get it ordered!

06.

3 months before…

  • Groom: Rent the men's suits
  • Book wedding transport

2 Months Before…

  • Try out different stylists to decide who you want to go with
  • Okay decided? Book them in! Nails, makeup, tan, hair, waxing-EVERYTHING, book in all of your beauty appointments now
  • Write your Vows-Okay this is SO important, you really don’t want to leave it any later to write these, or else it becomes like homework and you put it off until the last minute and then freak out when you get writer's block two weeks before
  • Follow up on any guests that have not responded yet

08.

1 month before…

  • Apply for a marriage license
  • Bride: Have final dress fitting where the maid of honour will learn how to bustle the dress. Bring the dress home and DO NOT LET IT OUT OF YOUR SIGHT

10.

Day before…
